About the Item

An enameled round box made in Pforzheim. Beautiful German enamel box, created in the city of Pforzheim in the early 20th century, between the 1900-1905. This belle époque box was made up in circular shape with Edwardian and art nouveau patterns by predominant geometric figures of triangles. This unusual box, was carefully crafted in solid .900/.999 standard silver with gilded interiors. It is engraved with intricate incised designs and embellished with applications of blue and white glass enamel. The upper part of the lid is decorated in the center with a round panel with polychrome enamel depicting the portrait of a young lady dressed in blue and white. This box can be actually use as a pill box. Weight: 40.25 Grams, (25.80 Dwt). Measurements: Diameter of 49 mm and a height of 26 mm (1.93 x 1.02 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with Austrian and French marks, stamped three times with the Swan mark (Osprey-124) for importation duties and the mark for the assay of the .900 silver. Note: The hallmark of a swan facing to the left inside an oval (Osprey-124), was introduced in 1893 for small silver items imported into France. The silver product need to have at least a standard assay of .800/999 or over. The swan mark indicates that the item was produced in a non-treaty country and served as an import identification. The swan mark used until 1970. Collateral: It is accompanied by a presentation jewelry pouch. Condition: The overall condition of this box is very good. Beside the little normal wear, there is no trace of wear to the silver. The enamel is secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
