About the Item

A fabulous example of a French fruitwood box carved beautifully carved into the form of a trunk. Look closely at the amazing detail, the side handles, the leather stitching, the leather straps and buckles. The box alone is a work of art, and another surprise awaits inside. There is a push button to the front releasing the lid and once opened the two original perfume bottles are revealed decorated with the original gilding. A very fine, exquisite and highly collectible box in superb condition. 4" x 2 5/8" x 3 3/4" tall; each bottle measuring 1 3/4" x 1 1/8" x 3" tall. Dating to the late 19th century, circa 1880.
