About the Item

A charming Viennese 19th century Porcelain and Ormolu box. This elegant rectangular shaped and lidded box is raised by four scrolled legs with foliate designs below a mottled band. The four sides and top display wonderful and most elegant framed panel surrounded by mottled edges with a twisted rope design. Each panel including the top are fitted with a wonderfully decorated central Viennese Porcelain plaque displaying colorful scenes of courtship between a young man and woman. The scenes are in a landscape next to a river and greenery. The lid opens upon its original hinge and reveals the smooth finished Ormolu interior.
