About the Item

This well figured highly hand polished Mahogany jewellery casket with dome fronted detail, was manufactured by the famed manning of Ireland company and is truly a jewel of handcrafted genius. This box is constructed of the finest woods available and the knowledge and skill of 4 generations of box making in the manning family is obvious. Made from finest quality Mahogany, Spanish cedar. The hand rubbed outside high shine finish and the luxurious fitted interior using a beige woven velvet fabric gives a richness that has earned the manning company a well deserved place at the pinnacle of the master cabinet maker. Measures: Width 12” (30cm) Depth (at deepest at center front) 8.75” (25cm) Height 6.25” (16cm) Condition: Brand new, never used. Stunning gold plated hinges however lovk and key are not present. An exceptionally fine quality example of a Lady’s or Gentleman’s English Regency Period polished brass mounted well figured Rosewood inlaid Boulle Style Jewellery or Sewing Casket or Table Box made during the first quarter of the Nineteenth Century, of English origin. Raised on its original bun feet, the quality of this item is firmly attributed to furniture makers Gillows of Lancaster. The rectangular form with hinged lid opening to reveal its original yellow silk lined interior, complete with lift out sectional tray. This exquisite casket is raised on four generous beaded bun supports. Condition: Good condition with nice patination, no losses to brass inlays. Lock is present and working, lacking key. Some losses to edgings of lift-out tray, overall a wonderful item in good condition. Height: (entire closed) 5.5" (14cm). Width: (at front) 10” (25.5cm). Depth: 7.25” (18.5cm).
