Exquisite antique Syrian box is a true testament to the skill and artistry of Syrian artisans. The mother of pearl inlays form an intricate mosaic-like pattern on the surface of the box, creating a mesmerizing interplay of iridescent hues. A stunning antique Moorish mother of pearl inlaid jewelry box dating from the late 19th century. The box is of rectangular form with hinged cover, the wooden frame mounted with mother of pearl in varying shapes and in contrasting colors. Meticulously handcrafted from solid walnut wood, inlaid on the front and sides with mother of pearl and bone and embellished with metal pewter thread throughout. In good restored condition with only very minor defects. The box has a key hole to the front with lock but missing its key. Dimensions: H 6.5 in. x W 12 in. x D 8.25 in.
