Heading : Tunbridge ware work box Date : c1850 Period : Victoria Origin : Tunbridge Wells, Kent . Almost certainly early Edmund Nye or George Burrows. Decoration : Central stylised floral tesellated mosaic, this is bordered by a stickware geometric band within keylines. The lid itself is bordered by a wider geometric stickwear band within keylines. Side panels similarly decorated with geometirc stickwear banding. The interior has the origianl silkwork lining to the cover and Size : 28.5x22.6cm, 6.5cm height Condition : Excellent, no losses and minimal wear. The interior a little worn but still presents well, particularly the silkwork. Key absent Restoration : None Weight : 761 grams A stunning example of a transitional period for Tunbridge ware as the tessellated mosaic rose to it's late Victorian ascendancy but the traditional stickwear geometry was still popular. This is a very fine example
