About the Item

A substantial Edwardian 9ct gold box retailed by Skinner & Co, Silversmiths and Diamond Merchants of Orchard Street, London W, dating to circa 1905. The rectangular box has an engine-turned hinged cover with a vacant rectangular cartouche, polished sides and a black leather panel to the underside, and is retained in its original fitted Skinner & Co red leather presentation case. The box is engraved ‘Skinner & Co, By Appointment to the King & Queen, Orchard Street, London W’, recording the firm's Royal appointment. An impressive gold box with its original retailer's case and Royal-appointment provenance. Hallmarks & Details - Retailer: Skinner & Co, Orchard Street, London W Period: Edwardian, circa 1905 Metal: 9ct gold (with leather components) Gross Weight: 566 grams Dimensions - Dimensions: 14 x 9.2 x 6.8 cm Condition : Excellent condition, surface wear and tear consistent with age.
