About the Item

This very fine & relatively heavy sterling silver tea caddy is of timeless design, showing an oval shaped canister decorated with an elegant reeded border to both the shoulder & base, the neck fitted with a snug-fitting removable cap, exhibiting a fine polished surface overall. Both the body & cap bearing London hallmarks and date marks for 1908 together with maker’s marks for George & Charles Asprey, who are one of the most highly regarded & longest standing silversmith firms in the United Kingdom. Weight, 229 grams (7.36 troy ounces). Asprey has enjoyed a continuous span of business since 1781 and are recognized worldwide as both manufacturers & purveyors of luxury items of the highest quality that include silver, jewelry, leather goods and other fine accessories. Asprey has also maintained a long standing relationship with the British Royal Family and are holders of several Royal Warrants.
