About the Item

This listing features a pair of six candle bronze candelabras with hand-carved hanging crystals that originate around the 19th century and are part of the Napoleon III style. Also known as Second Empire style, Napoleon III style of furniture was highly decorative while prioritizing comfort. There was also a special emphasis on form and function, examples of this being in tassels, fringes, and luxurious fabrics. There were many innovations made during this time, like tufted cushions and cast-iron pieces that could easily replicated in the manufacturing process. However, there were a lot of diversity in this time period, it was often called the "style without style" period. It blended 17th and 18th-century features with contemporary elements.
