About the Item

Pair of Tiffany Studios No. 1312 Patinated Bronze & Blue Favrile Glass Candelabra Estate of John Loring (1939–2026), the renowned Design Director of Tiffany & Co An exceptional and highly decorative pair of Tiffany Studios New York No. 1312 three-light candelabra, masterfully executed in richly patinated bronze and distinguished by luminous blue Favrile glass spheres, one of the studio's most recognizable and sought-after combinations of metalwork and art glass. Marked to the underside with the Tiffany Studios monogram, "TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1312," these authentic examples date to the early years of the twentieth century, when Louis Comfort Tiffany and his artisans were redefining American decorative arts through innovative craftsmanship and sophisticated design. Rather than relying upon overt floral ornament, Model No. 1312 embraces a restrained Art Nouveau vocabulary balanced with emerging Arts & Crafts sensibilities. Gracefully arched arms radiate from a faceted central standard, while polygonal candle cups and hand-worked bronze elements provide subtle geometric rhythm throughout the composition. The sculptural form is elevated by brilliant hand-blown Favrile glass spheres, whose iridescent blue coloration appears to glow from within. Patented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1894, Favrile glass was revolutionary because its color and iridescence were fused into the body of the molten glass rather than applied to the surface, giving each example remarkable depth and luminosity. The warm brown-green bronze patina has developed beautifully over more than a century and complements the cool blue glass with striking visual contrast. Their compact scale makes these candelabra equally effective on a dining table, library mantel, or console, where they provide a sculptural presence even when unlit. Tiffany Studios' bronze desk accessories and lighting are celebrated for their exceptional casting quality, hand-finished surfaces, and timeless architectural elegance, qualities that are fully evident in this model. Adding further desirability, this pair comes from the estate of John Loring, the legendary longtime design director of Tiffany & Co. and one of America's foremost authorities on Louis Comfort Tiffany. Ownership by Loring provides distinguished provenance linking these candelabra to one of the most influential figures in Tiffany scholarship and collecting. A refined and increasingly scarce model, these No. 1312 candelabra beautifully embody Tiffany Studios' ability to unite exceptional bronze casting with the luminous artistry of Favrile glass, creating objects that remain among the finest expressions of American Art Nouveau. Dimensions: Height: 9.25 in. Width: 6 in. Base Diameter: 4 in. Provenance From the estate of John Loring (1939–2026), the renowned design director of Tiffany & Co. for three decades and one of the foremost authorities on the Tiffany legacy. Loring was instrumental in shaping the company's modern identity while authoring numerous definitive books on Tiffany & Co., Louis Comfort Tiffany, jewelry, and the decorative arts. His distinguished personal collection reflected a lifelong appreciation for exceptional craftsmanship and design, making objects from his estate particularly desirable to collectors. The inclusion of this pair in Loring's collection adds a noteworthy and well-documented provenance to these authentic Tiffany Studios candelabra.

Pair of Napoleon III Patinated Bronze Patina 5-Light Candelabra France Circa 1870s A exquisite pair of Napoleon III patinated bronze candelabra, crafted in France during the 1870s. Standing at an impressive 30 inches tall, these candelabra are a true testament to the opulence and craftsmanship of the era. Each candelabrum features a central figural sculpture of a bird holding a serpent, perched upon a tortoise. This intricate sculpture showcases the attention to detail and artistic skill of the bronze sculptor. Above the sculpture, a five-light bobeche candelabrum adds a touch of grandeur and elegance to the piece. Supported on a fluted column, the candelabra rest on triparte acanthus leaf and lion caryatids with paw feet. These decorative elements add a regal and classical aesthetic, reflecting the influence of the Neoclassical style during the Napoleon III period. In their recent use, the candelabra were adapted as lamps, and as a result, the bird finials are now removable. They were previously used as lamp finials...
