Probably Vienna, Austria, 20th Century An extraordinary pair of monumental brass floor candlesticks of remarkable sculptural presence, distinguished by their striking inserts of faceted glass or possibly rock crystal. Despite extensive research and decades of experience in the antiques trade, we have been unable to identify a directly comparable example, making this an exceptionally unusual and intriguing pair. The elegant brass framework is enriched by numerous translucent inserts that create a captivating interplay of light and reflection. Whether executed in glass or natural rock crystal, these elements give the candlesticks a luxurious architectural quality and a highly distinctive appearance. Based on their bold design and refined decorative character, we believe the pair relates most closely to the Hollywood Regency or Art Deco aesthetic. Furthermore, the provenance of the previous owner suggests Vienna or New York as likely places of origin. As no documented comparisons have been located, these stylistic attributions and the proposed origin should be regarded as well-informed opinions rather than confirmed facts. Highly decorative and unlike any examples we have encountered, these monumental candlesticks are true statement pieces, ideally suited for collectors seeking exceptional and uncommon decorative objects.
