About the Item

A pair of exquisite Early 20th Century Polish Gold-Plated Shabbat Candlesticks, crafted in Warsaw, Poland, in 1908. Each candlestick features an elegant, curvaceous form adorned with intricate floral and foliate motifs, reflecting the ornate style popular in European Judaica of the time. The central sections of the candlesticks are embellished with embossed Star of David symbols, adding a distinctly Jewish character, signifying their sacred purpose in Shabbat observance. The rich gold-plated finish enhances their luxurious appearance, while the square bases provide stability and are similarly decorated with elaborate patterns. These matching Shabbat candlesticks, are the result of assembly-line production that was abundant in Warsaw during the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth centuries. To meet the demand of the Jewish population in Warsaw during this period, factories such as Fraget, Henneberg, and Norblin began manufacturing all kind of Jewish ceremonial objects that were affordable to the masses. While thousands of these Judaic- themed candlesticks were made during that time, finding a pair for sale today is not easy. These candlesticks not only serve as functional ritual objects for lighting Shabbat candles but also stand as a testament to the skilled Jewish silversmiths of early 20th-century Poland. Their detailed design and historical significance make them a cherished piece of Judaica, embodying both religious devotion and artistic excellence.
