About the Item

A fine Scottish inlaid mahogany tall clock by Eben (Ebenezer) Anderson, Auchtermuchty, with a swans neck split pediment top with brass rosettes and ball & spire finial, and pierced fretwork. The shaped waist door opens to two weights and a pendulum bob flanked with reeded quarter columns, on a bracket base with cross banded mahogany panels.. Fine brass works, with a silvered dial with Roman numerals, signed Eben Anderson, Auchtermuchty, and includes a winding key. Until 1975, Auchtermuchty was a royal burgh, in the town of Fife, Scotland, established under charter of King James V in 1517. The clock dates to the late 18th century and is in good running order, but has not been gone through. The hood front glass is cracked, and the case and hood has minor edge losses, imperfections, and wear commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 88 in H x 18 in W x 9.38 in D. Ref: 8
