About the Item

A most spectacular and sensational quality French mid 19th century Louis XVI st. clock in ormolu signed ‘BEURDELEY À PARIS’. The large scaled clock is raised by bun supports decorated by leaves below a double level platform with a front and side recessed panel with large scrolled acanthus leaves. Above is the large original enameled dial. On the left side a maiden dressed in classical attire, pointing to an urn above, instructing how to tell time to the cherub on the right. The cherub is surrounded by many learning tools, including a book, a scroll and a globe in the back, all while holding a sundial.
