About the Item

An antique Seth Thomas 'Grand Model' automatic 8-day alarm clock, dating to circa 1920. This handsome mantel clock features a distinctive cylindrical drum case crafted from copper with brass bezels, which houses the movement and dial. The case is mounted on an ornate, cast metal base finished with a dark patina, reflecting its age and character. The base is decorated with Neoclassical Revival motifs, including floral swags and reeded details. The brass dial is clearly marked 'SETH THOMAS' and features bold, black Arabic numerals on a gilded chapter ring. It is appointed with ornate, pierced hour and minute hands and a central alarm setting hand. The face is protected by a hinged glass crystal. This 'Grand Model' is a classic example of the renowned American clockmaker's quality craftsmanship from the early 20th century. Measures - 10"H x 8.25"W x 8.25"D
