About the Item

A striking and rare Flemish frame dating from circa 1800–1820, crafted in genuine tortoiseshell with richly saturated red and black coloring. The natural marbling of the shell gives the surface a glowing, almost lacquered depth, a hallmark of luxury craftsmanship from the early 19th century. Beautifully proportioned and well preserved, this frame exemplifies the refined taste of the low countries during the period.
