About the Item

A pair of antique Korean embroidered silk peony roundels, mounted in matching lacquered wood frames. Each panel depicts a pair of full-bloom peonies (모란) worked in fine silk thread on a deep magenta ground — a traditional motif symbolizing wealth, honor, and marital happiness, often found on Korean pillow-ends (베갯모) and ceremonial textiles. The vivid coloring and detailed petal shading suggest hand embroidery of considerable skill. Sold as a pair, in original wood display frames with hanging hardware.
