About the Item

Stunning geometric metal and red paint sculpture by the well-known American artist Betty Gold. This work is an edition, signed and marked 23/50. Similar work, large size, as shown in the booklet picture in the Palm Springs Desert Museum, installed in 1982, titled Monumental Holistic XIV. Betty Gold was born in Austin in 1935, studied art in Dallas, and lived in Aspen before settling in Venice Beach, California, where she has her studio. She also works in Mallorca, where many of her works are cast. Gold travels extensively, creating works in Mexico, Spain, Slovakia, Japan, Korea, and the United States. Universities, other public places, and office buildings throughout the United States are home to more than 50 of her monumental sculptures. All of her outdoor pieces are constructed from welded steel and are either painted with glossy enamel or left in their raw state to rust to a velvety patina.
