About the Item

This large floor piece "Diptych 2" consists of two clear Lucite panels that encase pinhole photo transparencies with images taken from under an urban expressway. The panels are held together at an angle with stainless steel tubing that also holds the fluorescent lighting above. The last picture is in a gallery setting to give a sense of scale. About the series: This series of works features large archival photo transparencies of urban vistas. These images are encased in clear acrylic panels, enhanced with fluorescent or LED lighting, and mounted with stainless steel hardware. The monumental columns of the expressway stand in stark contrast to the surrounding weeds and discarded debris, evoking the tension between industrial infrastructure and the neglected urban landscape. The acrylic panels themselves take on an ethereal quality, reminiscent of the lacy, drippy forms of graffiti often seen on bus shelter panels or windows, adding an element of fragility and transience to the piece.

Bijan Bahar Lucite and Epoxy Resin Sculpture Yin Yang

Bijan Bahar Lucite and Epoxy Resin Sculpture Yin Yang

By Bijan Bahar

Located in Palm Springs, CA

A beautiful colorful sculpture by the noted artist Bijan Bahar. Bijan created this incredible sculpture by first creating a lucite box and then filling it with epoxy resin. before the resin hardened he filled it with found objects of color. after it dried he cut the sculpture artfully into two pieces. it was created in the mid 1990's and is signed and numbered 1/1. It is in good age appropriate condition with some crazing to the seams where the glue has crazed. There are some surface scratches and minor nicks as well. Not the bottom is sanded to a Frost finish by the artist. A bio af the artist follows: Museum Shows / Collections Some of Commissions / Collections Irvine Foundation, Los Angeles, CA Mr. R.
