Movement Phase 3 by Catalin Filip is a sculptural ceramic vessel that explores the way raw clay responds to gravity. Made from black vulcan stoneware, its form slumps into an almost collapsed shape, with soft folds and subtle surface movement. The piece is secured to its plinth with a ratcheted strap, creating a tension that both restrains and frames the vessel, emphasizing a sense of vulnerability and transformation. About Cătălin Filip (b. 1989) is a Romanian-born, UK-based artist and designer working primarily with ceramics. A self-taught ceramicist, he develops unique techniques through intuitive experimentation and patient trial and error. Fascinated by the movement and distortions found in nature, he lets process guide form, allowing each piece to reveal how it was made. With a background in architecture, he merges artistic expression with functional design. Over the past year, he has exhibited internationally, including recent presentations in the Netherlands, Romania, Greece, and Mexico, and at the British Ceramics Biennale in the UK, where he received the Fresh Talent Prize.
