About the Item

Govert Heikoop’s "Untitled" (1986) is a hand-signed painted plywood sculpture measuring 9.0 x 25.0 x 14.0 cm. Featuring a vibrant pastel palette of blue, orange, yellow, and white, the piece combines organic, interlocking shapes with a smooth matte finish. The interplay of soft curves and sharp edges creates a dynamic, fluid quality, inviting close interaction. Influenced by the Memphis Group’s bold designs and the postmodern aesthetics of the 1980s, Heikoop explores color theory and abstract form with architectural precision, drawing comparisons to Daniel Libeskind. The pastel tones soften the industrial material, offering a sense of harmony and approachability. This sculpture captures the energy and optimism of its era, making it a timeless addition to any modernist or postmodern collection. Minimalist Geometric Abstract Relief in Tonal Whites by Dutch Artist

Minimalist Geometric Abstract Relief in Tonal Whites by Dutch Artist

Located in AMSTERDAM, NL

Expressive abstract relief in white by Dutch artist Henk van Putten (1936-2019) Van Putten called himself a constructivist in the tradition of Vladimir Tatlin, with whom he shared not only aesthetic principles but also social commitment. For example, almost everything he made in 3D is made up of several parts; glued, welded or screwed together. In his paintings, which he often made prior to the 3D version, he even painted the seams where they would appear in the later work. Van Putten’s work, although easily recognisable, shows a clear affinity with artists he admires such as André Volten, Gerrit Rietveld and more generally with ‘De Stijl’. Yet he made no contact with them; he felt much more like a kindred spirit of German artists, especially the ZERO movement whose members, like himself, were strongly involved in society. He befriends people like Egon Eppich and Hap Grieshaber...
