About the Item

Magnificent earthenware rooster and its vase, made in France in the 1880s. This majolica composition is both a flower vase and a rooster sculpture. This superb earthenware piece, beautifully detailed, is hand-painted in a vibrant palette of red, blue, green, beige, and red. The rooster's pose is remarkable, dramatic and proud, with a plumed tail and a rounded chest. Signed on the base by the artist P. Comolera. Some damage and cracks, but overall good condition considering the age of this piece. Remarkable quality and a rare decorative object.
