About the Item

Good size and highly decorative wildlife sculpture. This full-grown and impressive elephant has both great aesthetic and decorative value. Underneath the leather hide is a well carved wooden sculpture which is why this sizable tusker has such realistic features. This is the largest specimen that we have seen and owned to date and it could not be in better condition. Besides being more realistic than the few we have seen or sold before, this elephant also is of a better quality. That is also reflected in the ears, because other than normal they too are made of wood on the inside. The tusks are of a solid plastic and his eyes seem to be made of glass. We feel that the maker of this work of art has beautifully captured both the outer form and the inner form (which is the soul) of this majestic animal. Previous owners have taken real good care of this midcentury made elephant which is why it is still in superb condition. You can see that the artist who made this elephant had a great understanding of what he or she was creating. We hope that by giving praise to the beauty of elephants in particular and acknowledging the importance of wildlife on our planet in general, that this stunning sculpture will help raise awareness so that the savannahs will not one day be without them.
