About the Item

Terracotta nativity sculpture depicting the neck and head of a donkey. The sculpture is made of terracotta entirely by hand, finished in stick and color. In the nativity scene, the donkey is ideally placed to the left of the child. Remarkable executive quality and attention to detail. The sculpture was applied through the holes to supports which were then hidden by other elements of the nativity scene. Naples, Italy, second half of the 19th century.
