About the Item

Depictions of young angelic boys are also known as putti, or putto for a single one. Since the 17th century on they remained popular and are found in various forms. Perhaps the most known version is Cupid. Looking at their attributes time periods can be narrowed down. In this example we see a rose Guirlande and a medaillon which are typical for the late 18th- early 19th century. The Rosso Verona Marble points to Italy where the piece was also found by us. Because of its age the marble has softly faded which enhances the subtle gentle expression of the putto. Small particles of the feet are missing aswell as the wings on the back. These do not affect the general appearance of the piece. Dimensions are 65 H x 78 x 36cm or 25.6 x 30.7 x 14.2 inch.
