About the Item

Here is a graceful and expressive bronze sculpture by German sculptor Hans Parzinger, depicting a young female figure standing with arms uplifted in a gesture of celebration, freedom or invocation. The composition captures a remarkable sense of movement and optimism, with the figure balanced lightly on one foot while her elongated arms create a striking architectural silhouette. Executed in the Art Deco period, the sculpture reflects the era's fascination with idealized form and simplified geometry. Rather than emphasizing minute anatomical detail, Parzinger models the figure with broad, flowing planes and softly rounded contours, creating an elegant harmony between realism and modernist abstraction. The serene facial expression and upward gaze reinforce the sculpture's lyrical, almost spiritual presence. The bronze retains a rich, warm patina that beautifully accentuates the subtle modeling of the figure. Mounted on its original integral stepped bronze plinth and signed "H. Parzinger," the work is compelling from every angle, making it equally suited for display on a pedestal, console, library table or desk. Hans Parzinger was the father of renowned designer Tommi Parzinger, whose furniture and decorative arts became synonymous with sophisticated mid-century American design. While Tommi achieved international recognition, Hans established his own artistic reputation through finely crafted figurative sculptures distinguished by their quiet elegance and refined craftsmanship. The sculpture is in very good vintage condition with possible wear consistent with age and use. Dimensions: 16.5 inches high, 9.75 inches wide, and 3.75 inches deep.
