French Art Deco Sculpture by Limousin, Young Girl and Partridge, France, 1920s. Elegant French Art Deco sculpture by Limousin, created in France during the 1920s, depicting a young girl accompanied by a partridge. The girl is portrayed carrying a bag filled with snails on her back, a charming rural subject that reflects the Art Deco period’s interest in stylized realism and pastoral themes. Executed in spelter with original patina, the sculpture is mounted on a refined onyx and marble base, offering a sophisticated contrast of textures and materials typical of French Art Deco decorative sculpture. The composition is both narrative and balanced, showcasing Limousin’s attention to expressive detail and harmonious proportions. The sculpture is signed “Limousin” beneath the bag, a discreet and somewhat difficult-to-find signature (see photo), which enhances its authenticity and collectibility. Works signed by Limousin are increasingly sought after by collectors of 1920s French Art Deco sculpture, figurative bronzes, and decorative objects of the interwar period. Condition: Slight traces of age to the patina. Minor edge nicks to the marble base and a hairline at one corner (see photos and arrow).
