About the Item

Maricela Gómez López, a hardworking mother and artist portrays her life through her work. Living and growing up in Santo Domingo Yanhuitlán, a small town in central Mexico, the role of women as mothers and providers has and is part of the local culture. This serene work portraits the bond a mother creates with her child while breastfeeding and demonstrates the accustomed view towards it. With natural pigments Gómez gives a natural, rustic, and calm tone to the sculpture.
