About the Item

Decorate a living room, entryway, or chapel corner with this expressive pair of antique Italian wall-hanging cherub sculptures, carved in Italy circa 1860 and finished in richly burnished giltwood. Each putti is depicted in graceful mid-movement, with curled hair, rounded limbs, and delicately modeled features that reflect the Baroque and Rococo traditions of Southern European devotional art. The original gilt surface shows warm undertones of red bole beneath the gilt finish adding depth, authenticity, and a timeworn softness consistent with age. The figures retain hanging brackets on the back, allowing them to display as floating decorative accents or as architectural embellishments flanking a mirror, doorway, or altar.
