About the Item

Pair of sculptural female heads modeled after Amedeo Modigliani's celebrated Tête de Femme carvings. Each figure features the artist's distinctive elongated proportions, almond-shaped eyes, refined nose, and simplified facial planes. Executed in a stone-like cast composition with intentionally textured surfaces and rough-hewn upper sections, the sculptures capture the primitive modernist aesthetic that defined Modigliani's early sculptural work. Both examples retain titled plaques reading "TÊTE DE FEMME--modigliani" and are mounted on black plinth bases. The pair is displayed on substantial rustic wood slab platforms. Founded in 1948 by Alfred Wolkenberg, Alva Studios of Long Island, New York became one of America's best-known producers of museum reproduction sculpture, creating licensed and educational reproductions of notable works from major collections around the world through the late twentieth century.

Wear consistent with age and use. Shows moderate wear throughout including scattered chips, abrasions, paint loss, surface imperfections. Black plinth bases chipping, finish wear along edges and corners. Wooden slab bases show age-related wear, weathering, and scattered paint flecks.
