About the Item

A rare and collectible desktop sculpture from one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century, this double-sided bronze plaque by Salvador Dalí (Spanish, 1904–1989) commemorates the Jerusalem 3000 series, a limited edition project honoring the ancient city of Jerusalem. One face displays the bold embossed text "JERUSALEM 3000" alongside Dalí's distinctive facsimile signature cast directly into the bronze, while the reverse presents an evocative bas-relief composition depicting robed figures gathered before the iconic stones of the Western Wall (Wailing Wall). The plaque is mounted upright in a slotted oval base composed of turned wood with a bronze metal collar, creating a freestanding desktop or shelf object of refined presence. The bronze has developed a warm, aged patina consistent with its age, with traces of green verdigris adding authenticity and character. Part of a commemorative edition produced by Jean-Paul Delcourt and associated with the official presentation to the city of Jerusalem, this work sits at the crossroads of fine art, Judaica, and surrealist collectibles. Dalí's engagement with Jewish and biblical themes, including his celebrated Wailing Wall lithograph suite and several related bronze sculptures, makes this plaque a meaningful addition to any collection of his work or of significant 20th-century Judaica.
