About the Item

SELKET - Art Deco gilt bronze Egyptian Revival Goddess on marble base - mid 20th century. Good vintage condition - as found/photographed - bends and gilding loss from age and use. Size - 2" Square x 5" High. SELKET - Selket (Selkit) was the divine scorpion who ruled over medicine and magic and protected the coffins of the dead. Selket was the wife of Ra and aided Isis, Nephthys, and Neith in guarding the canopic jars of Osiris. Her name is also written - 'serqet hetit' - which means 'who lets the throat breath'.
