Extra large and extremely rare, antique sculpture of Mephistopheles from the Faust Opera. This striking and famous historical work of art depicting Mephistopheles is another one of our recent great finds. All hand carved out of pine this 'lifesize' sculpture is in a good antique condition and it has a marvelous patina. Anyone with an eye for quality carvings will immediate recognize the realistic anatomy and how this unique statue looks great from all angles. So much so that this can only be the work of a master sculptor. Because of the expressive style, we are not sure which country this rare antique is from, but when it comes to the top quality of the carvings we feel it is most likely from a country like Italy, where they have a long tradition of carving sculptures of man and man-like figures of this size (possibly Venetian).
