About the Item

An elegant Arts & Crafts style silver pedestal bowl, by renowned silversmiths Nathan & Hayes. The bowl features a striking lobed design, both to the body and foot, creating a bold yet refined silhouette. A delicately chased border with stylised scrollwork encircles the upper section, adding a subtle decorative touch without overpowering the form. The highly polished surface highlights the exceptional hand-finished quality. Raised on a domed foot with repeating lobed motifs, the piece reflects the firm's characteristic craftsmanship and flair for architectural form, Chester hallmarked for 1908 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Height: 12 cm Diameter: 14 cm Condition: Excellent Original Condition Circa: 1908 Materials: Silver Silver Weight: 372 grammes SKU: 9475 ABOUT Nathan & Hayes Nathan & Hayes was a distinguished British silversmith partnership between George Nathan and Ridley Hayes, active from the late 19th to early 20th century. Based in Birmingham with offices in London’s Hatton Garden, they registered their first joint mark in 1897. Renowned for high-quality silverware in the Arts & Crafts and revival styles, they produced a range of items including tea sets, belt buckles, and decorative pieces. Their work often featured fine repoussé and chased detailing. Hallmarked with “N & H” or “G.N. & R.H.”, their pieces were assayed in Birmingham, Chester, and London. The firm was later acquired by S. Blanckensee & Sons.
