About the Item

An exceptionally striking and beautifully proportioned mid-century vintage Murano art glass ewer or decorative pitcher, measuring 23 cm in height and 11 cm at its widest point. The main pyriform (pear-shaped) body is composed of an extraordinarily rich, densely packed mosaic of vibrant, multi-colored millefiori (murrine) canes, featuring iconic geometric, starburst, and rare heart motifs in shades of red, blue, yellow, green, and white. The intricate mosaic fields are subtly accented by shimmering patches of gold aventurine (avventurina) dust embedded into the glass matrix. The vessel is elegantly flanked by a high-arching, ribbed handle in a translucent amethyst-tinted glass that perfectly complements the rich tones of the body. The entire piece rests firmly on a heavily textured, sculpted amethyst-glass foot styled as a sprawling multi-petal blossom. A fantastic, high-presence example of post-war Italian art glass that merges classical Venetian shapes with bold, modernist color design.
