About the Item

An elegant pair of early 19th century French Borghese urns mounted on richly colored sienna marble plinths. These beautifully cast urns are inspired by the celebrated Borghese urn in Italy, the monumental original that resides at the Borghese Palace. While the form originates from Italy, these examples were finely crafted in France and reflect the strong neoclassical influence of the period. Each urn and plinth is constructed as one solid piece, giving the pair wonderful stability and presence. The warm tones and natural veining of the sienna marble create a striking contrast against the beautifully patinated bronze urns, resulting in a sophisticated decorative element ideal for a mantel, console, or tabletop display. The urns measure approximately 8 inches high. The opening at the top measures 4 inches across with an interior depth of approximately 3 inches, allowing them to function both as decorative objects or for small floral arrangements. The overall height is 14".
