A truly magnificent and monumental mid-to-late 19th-century antique Bohemian white overlay cut-to-clear crystal covered pokal urn, standing at an impressive height of 46 cm and measuring 15 cm in diameter. This majestic museum-quality vessel is constructed using the complex overlay technique, where a thick layer of opaque milk-white glass is fused over a clear crystal core. The artisan then masterfully cut through the white layer to create a striking rhythm of clear lancet windows and teardrop medallions. Several of these windows feature finely engraved frosted diamond-mesh patterns that capture the light beautifully. The entire architectural form—comprising a tall, high-shouldered chalice body, a elegantly turned knopped stem, a flared trumpet base, and its original tiered high-dome cover with a sculpted finial—is heavily adorned with exquisite hand-painted 24k gold arabesques and foliate scrolls. This exceptional centerpiece exemplifies the luxurious taste of the high-end Bohemian export market tailored for Eastern palaces and European grand estates.
