About the Item

These are a handsome pair of large blue and white lidded ceramic ginger jars, decorated in a traditional floral pattern inspired by Chinese export porcelain The generously proportioned baluster-shaped bodies are richly hand-painted in deep cobalt blue against a crackled ivory ground, with profuse scrolling flowers and foliage creating a wonderfully decorative effect Each jar retains its original domed cover with matching floral decoration and a shaped finial, while the shoulders are finished with moulded bands and scalloped blue borders that add depth and texture The attractive craquelure to the glaze gives the pair an aged character, complementing the classic blue-and-white palette that has remained timeless for centuries Equally suited to a mantelpiece, console table or flanking a doorway, these jars make an elegant statement either displayed as a pair or individually Their traditional styling allows them to blend effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors, bringing a touch of Chinoiserie elegance and decorative charm to any room
