About the Item

18th Century bronze Chinese vase of amphora form, featuring intricately cast traditional motifs across the base and neck. The octagonal mouth sits above a long neck with ornate geometric details and thin handles. A band of traditional Chinese auspicious clouds, called “xiangyun,” lines the shoulder of the vase, and features the ancient symbol of “shou,” the traditional Chinese character for longevity. The body of the vase includes two central vignettes of figures depicted in various outdoor scenes, with great details to garments and foliage. The reliefs are separated by two additional panels with scrolling designs of similar cloud designs.
