About the Item

Ambrogio Pozzi “Enigma” geometric ceramic vase for Arte Ceramica Romana, Italy, 1987. This postmodern vase is a strong example of late 1980s Italian design, combining architectural form, graphic decoration and sculptural presence in one object. Designed by Ambrogio Pozzi and produced by Arte Ceramica Romana, also known as A.C.R., the vase is built like a small geometric construction. Its rectangular opening, stepped side profile, inverted trapezoid body and triangular base give it the feeling of an architectural model as much as a functional vessel. The glossy surface is decorated with black geometric fields, an irregular dotted pattern and a vivid red triangular accent. The result is bold, precise and visually dynamic, with a clear connection to Italian postmodern and Memphis-era design. A documented example of this model is held in the collection of the Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza, inventory no. 29483.
