About the Item

This elegant modernist vase was realized in the United States circa 1980. It features a conical form that flares dramatically at its shoulders before tapering to an economical circular mouth. The exterior of the piece has been hand glazed in java and cafe au lait ones against a warm tan back ground. The form recalls both antique African pottery and neolithic Chinese vessels, but also appears unquestionably modern. The glaze has a beautiful organic aesthetic and a sophisticated palate that is as versatile as it is aesthetically compelling. This piece would be a wonderful addition to any style of interior from Classic Mid Century to contemporary. Excellent vintage condition. American, circa 1980 Dimensions: Diameter 10.5 Height 8.

This refined Mid Century Modern ceramic vase was realized by the esteemed maker Thor in Denmark circa 1960. It offers a cylindrical body, and dramatically sloped shoulders that curve upwards to a truncated neck and round mouth- all in a beautiful ecru hue. The body of the piece has been meticulously hand painted with a diamond motif- at points clustered, and at others represented as floating individuals diamonds- in a surprising and sophisticated tones of marigold, persimmon, chocolate and white.
