Elegant and highly decorative gilded bronze cup or drageoir on foot, attributed to Maison Giroux, featuring finely sculpted putti and chimera motifs. The delicately worked body is adorned with cut and silvered brass mesh and rests on a white marble base. A charming example of the ingenuity and refined craftsmanship associated with Maison Giroux, this delicate object combines historical inspiration with innovative materials and techniques. The Maison Giroux family business, one of the most distinguished Parisian manufacturers of luxury furniture and decorative objects during the 19th century, was renowned for its sophisticated creations made for bourgeois and aristocratic interiors. Drawing inspiration from past centuries while embracing new technologies and materials, the firm produced exceptional pieces including porcelain-inlaid furniture, mirrors, sewing cases, toys, and other luxury accessories. This rare and original piece remains highly decorative despite the absence of the original glass verrine and the presence of minor chips to the marble base, consistent with its age.
