About the Item

An exceptional and monumental studio glass sculpture titled "Orange Furrow" (2004) by the internationally acclaimed Australian glass artists Benjamin Edols and Kathy Elliott. This striking, masterfully crafted unique piece stands at an impressive height of approximately 68 cm, making it a commanding focal point for any sophisticated interior or private collection. Artistry & Technique "Orange Furrow" perfectly exemplifies the duo’s signature collaboration, where Edols’ masterful glassblowing meets Elliott’s extraordinary skill in cold-working and surface carving. The sculpture features a vibrant, translucent orange hue that radiates warmth. Its surface is meticulously carved with deep, organic vertical grooves ("furrows") that catch and refract the light, creating a dynamic interplay of shadow and brilliance. The combination of the sleek, elongated form and the tactile, matte texture gives the piece a deeply sensual, rhythmic presence. The sculpture is in fine vintage condition. It is incised/engraved with the artists' signatures, date, and unique studio number on the base: "Benjamin Edols Kathy Elliott 2004 025" Specifications For a deeper insight into the artists' pioneering techniques and stylistic evolution during this period, see: Cf.: Dan Klein, "New Artists in Glass", Mitchell Beazley, London, 2001, pp. 66–67. About the Artists Benjamin Edols and Kathy Elliott have been working together in Sydney since 1993 and are widely regarded as cornerstones of contemporary Australian studio glass. Their work is celebrated globally for bridging the gap between traditional Venetian glassblowing techniques and contemporary textile-like surface textures. Their masterpieces are held in prestigious public collections worldwide, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Museum of Arts and Design (New York), and the National Gallery of Australia.
