About the Item

Part of the Pleiades series, this vase features the Nebula pattern, inspired by the dispersed light and shifting constellations observed through powerful telescopes. Against a deep black lacquer ground, delicate fields of white eggshell form fractured, star-like trajectories, animated by sporadic flecks of rich persimmon red lacquer that appear to drift across the surface. Built through multiple layers of lacquer, the composition creates a profound sense of depth and movement, with cloud-like formations that soften the geometry of the celestial pattern. The interplay between the crisp eggshell inlay and the irregular red lacquer accents evokes the quiet turbulence of distant galaxies, where order and chance coexist. Rooted in the craftsmanship traditions of Arts and Crafts, yet guided by the formal restraint and symmetry of Art Deco, the vase balances meticulous handwork with a modern, sculptural presence.
