About the Item

This Giovanni Dalla Fina iridescent white Murano glass textured vase from the 1990s features a luminous pearlescent finish and applied organic bubble cabochons. An exceptional piece of late 20th-century Italian art glass, this striking vase beautifully marries a clean, minimalist form with highly tactile, sculptural elements. Handcrafted on the historic island of Murano, Venice, the vase is formed from a heavy, opaque milky-white base glass that serves as the perfect canvas for light play. Master glassmaker Giovanni Dalla Fina expertly adorned the cylindrical body with large, applied clear glass prunts, or cabochons, which are densely packed with controlled bubble inclusions. The entire exterior surface of the vase has been treated with a rare, lustrous iridescent glaze that mimics the ethereal quality of natural mother-of-pearl. Depending on the angle of the light, the pearlescent finish shifts beautifully to reveal a subtle rainbow spectrum of soft pinks, violet-blues, and warm golden tones. This high-end decorative object makes a sophisticated statement, effortlessly complementing Mid-Century Modern, Post-Modern, Hollywood Regency, or Contemporary interior design styles.
