About the Item

An elegant tall vase by Giovanni Gariboldi forRichard-Ginori, produced at the renowned Pittoria di Doccia in Sesto Fiorentino. The piece is defined by its vertically ribbed surface, which gives rhythm and movement to the form, and by a refined reserved panel richly decorated in relief with marine motifs. The sculptural quality of the decoration enhances the verticality of the vase, creating a harmonious dialogue between structure and ornament. Executed in white glazed ceramic, the vase is embellished with a delicate gold splatter finish that softens the surface with subtle luminosity. The rims and the background of the relief panel are finished in solid gold, adding depth and richness while highlighting the craftsmanship for which Doccia was celebrated. The base bears multiple factory marks: “RICHARD GINORI ★ ★ ★” in green, the printed mark “PITTORIA DI DOCCIA” within a green cartouche, and the model number “1901E” in red. These markings confirm the vase’s provenance and situate it within the high-quality artistic production of Richard-Ginori in the early 20th century. This model was exhibited at the VII Triennale di Milano, underscoring its significance within the history of Italian decorative arts. Technique: White glazed ceramic with gold splatter decoration; gold-finished rims and reserved panel. Bibliography: Domus no. 150, June 1940, p. 48 G. Cavagna di Gualdana, Gariboldi, Corraini Editore, Mantova 2010, pp. 148–149
