About the Item

A true icon of mid-century modern art glass. A beautiful blue turquoise mid-century Italian Murano glass vase, sourced in France. Made using the Sommerso (submerged) glass technique. This is a classic Flavio Poli style vase however it is unsigned. Flavio Poli (1900–1984) was a leading figure of mid-century Murano glass. As artistic director of Seguso Vetri d’Arte in the 1950s, he perfected the sommerso technique, layering richly colored glass within clear crystal to achieve remarkable depth and luminosity. His innovative work earned multiple Milan Triennale awards and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide. In very good vintage condition. A very minor chip in the upper inner rim and a minor scratch on upper edge (see photos). Otherwise, no flaws or scratches. Dimension: height 20.5 cm/ 8", width 5.5 cm/ 2.17", depth 5.5 cm/ 2.17".
