About the Item

This refined ceramic vase was designed and produced by Munk Keramik in Sweden in the 1950s. Munk Keramik was a small-scale Swedish studio in Enköping active from 1952 to 2005, producing everything by hand. The piece is signed with 'Munk' and the company's logo on the underside of the base. The vase has a bulbous, drop-shaped body that tapers into a narrow, elongated neck with a flared rim. It is finished in a rich hare's fur glaze in warm ochre tones, with a subtle gradient running from deeper amber at the shoulder to a lighter, golden hue toward the base. The glaze has a soft, silky sheen that catches the light unevenly across the curved surface, giving the piece a refined, almost luminous quality. The vase is in very good original condition. Other Scandinavian Modern designers working in the same style/era include Carl-Harry Stålhane, Gunnar Nylund, Wilhelm Kåge, Olle Alberius and Stig Lindberg.
