About the Item

A Murano glass vase handcrafted in Italy during the 1990s, featuring a grey sommerso core, luminous cyan blue glass and a precisely faceted hexagonal form. The vase is formed using the traditional sommerso technique, with smoked grey glass layered within clear crystal and cyan blue glass. Its substantial walls are cut and polished into six geometric facets, creating pronounced optical depth as the layered colours shift and refract with the light. The elongated hexagonal form gives the vase a clean, architectural character, while the thick polished base provides visual weight and stability. Crisp faceting contrasts with the fluid qualities of the hand-worked glass, creating a distinctly sculptural piece of Italian art glass. Designed as a functional flower vase, the narrow opening is particularly suited to a single stem or restrained floral arrangement. Its strong geometric form also allows it to stand independently as a decorative Murano glass vase on a console, sideboard, mantel or shelving. The original Murano label remains affixed to the front, supporting its Italian origin. Condition Very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Dimensions Height: 33 cm / 12.99 in.
