About the Item

A stunning and elegant French Art Deco squat bottle shaped vase decorated in blue crystalline glazes and dating from around 1920. The stoneware bottle shaped vase stands on a narrow round unglazed foot with a slightly recessed base. The vase has a wide squat rounded body with a narrow funnel shaped neck and trumpet shaped top. The body of the vase is decorated with blue crystalline patterning over a light beige, brown body with darker brown glazes around the top rim and extending inside the body of the vase with streaked patterning with elements of blue. The vase has an indecipherable underglaze mark to the base and was acquired as part of Pierrefonds collection and is certainly very similar in style and quality. Acquired from the UK Art Market. In good condition with wear associated with age and use. A couple of tiny firing glaze blows in the pattern.
